Today was a rather relaxing day in the second grade. They started their morning out with a normal morning meeting, where we got to greet each other and then start about our day. I continued to take children out to work on their biographies. They would read as I would type, it worked out very well actually. They originally wrote these much earlier in the year, so it was very cool to see how their grammar and writing skills have progressed throughout the past few months. Most of them even caught their own mistakes, which from a teacher's perspective is probably great! Then the kids had shared music and science. Shared music is the best class of the day! The kids all get together as a second grade and sing through all kinds of crazy songs. We have a ton of fun watching them sing and be crazy. There was a lot of SSR, which is just silent reading, because the kids are now learning about Caldecott Award winning books. Also, they worked on their "immigration" journals, where they read a book and then pretend they are a character from that book and journal about it. Right now they are reading a book on immigration because they are studying Cleveland and it's history. The kids also had library after lunch, and then had a fractions lesson which I wasn't able to stay for. While the kids were at specials I finished typing up some of their work, and then I continued to work on their portfolios. I had a very quiet day.
