Today, after yet another AP exam, I went back to Craig
Advertising a little worn from the three-hour Calculus test, but relieved to
have that weight off my shoulders. First, Bob showed me what he had been
working on throughout the morning. He had been creating a promo banner for a
singer who had just come out with a new album and wanted to promote a specific
song. Bob walked me through the steps he takes when presented with a new
project. Before creating anything, he researches the client to get a feel for
them and their campaign, so his advertisement can match. In the singer’s case,
her album has a very retro vibe so he portrayed that tastefully in the banner.
He also showed me how animation was done. The banner needed to flash between
two different scenes: one had a picture of the singer, her name, the name , of
the album, and the song and the other was more informational with where one
could get the album and song and the details about the Memorial Day special.
The animation had to be timed right with seven seconds on the artistic side and
ten on the informational side. Also, the transition could not be more complex
than a flash or else the file would be too bulky to load onto a webpage
quickly. Finally, I finished the day sorting through even more keywords for the
other client’s website I have been working on, but this time they were from a
different competitor’s website.
