The First Few Days
On monday I started working for Chris Hodgson, at his restaurant called Hodges, located on Euclid Street. The restaurant has only been open for a bit over a month, but all the guys working there have worked in the business for over 10 years. The group of guys that work there are incredibly cool, and relaxed, and constantly joke around. I was assigned to work with a man named Jesse who runs the food truck from Tuesdays-Fridays. But Monday, is inventory day, which means making sure the restaurant and the food truck needs to have most of the food prepped to save time. That meant I had to peel onions for 3 hours, thats 40 pounds of onions, my fingers still smell like onions after 20 times washing my hands. Tuesday was a bit more exciting because we actually got to go out to the streets and serve people. We had to clean the truck for 2 hours because it was out on the weekend before, and after the cleaning of the truck we loaded up all the food necessary for the day and were off to the streets. Once we got to our site by around 11am, we started cooking the food (the menu for the day was burger sliders, fish tacos, steak tacos, mac & cheese, tots, and asparagus). At around 1130 the customers started coming and my job was to take the orders and hang them up. We left the site at around 1:30pm. overall the job was not really that hard, the truck made $600, which is considered a bad day ($1000 is a good day), but it was fun nonetheless.
