Ms.K!

May 7th- Monday

As we all know, Mondays are very dull. I thought that it was just like that for us students but now I have figured out that its the same for teachers as well. I really like the idea of being a teacher- guiding students towards progress and success. It truly is a rewarding experience. Aside from that, I just started enjoying the perks- a nice long lunch break, hanging out at the staff lounge, full access to coffee, espresso, tea. That day, I definitely needed something. Today we introduced music to the cafeteria. Based upon research, we re conducting an experiment on what kind of an effect various genres of music have on kids while they are eating lunch. We have 3 CDs that we switch around and I am responsible for turning it on every morning at 10:30 and shutting it off at 1:30 when all the lunch rotations are over. But anyway, I went into art and quickly realized that this would be my favorite class. Art is very hands on and fun- even for the teacher. As an assistant teacher I walked around helping kids make these hats for their performance. I helped them make these hats out of plates, fitted them to their heads and put strings through the holes in them to hold them on their heads. I must say it was a bonding experience. Aside from that, I got to small talk with various little ones. The girls are definitely very interested in me- especially in my long hair and make up. Sometimes they get really touchy and feely but I can understand that. Some of them even insist on calling me "mommy". The boys are just adorable! They are such little troublemakers but at the same time they are so cute and innocent. They are definitively very curious as well. About everyone must have asked about my age. Some thought I was 13, some 35. I guess kids have bad perception of age- or at least an undeveloped perception. This one boy insisted on thinking that I was Chinese. But everyone quickly found out that I was from Russia (even though some didn't have a clue of where that was).
