I spent the first part of today on the computer. I created spreadsheet of current past donors and all of their contact information. I also created a spreadsheet of all the items that required a certificate with their item numbers, descriptions, etc. I much prefer computer work to some of the other thing I've been doing around the office. Plus, I learned some tricks that make excel way easier to use which I suppose could prove very useful in college.
After I finished my spreadsheets, I went and spent time with a group of volunteer in post-auction returns. They were making calls asking the highest bidders from the televised auction to come pick up their items while I was matching certificates with the corresponding donor and item sheets. Okay, it may not sounds like it, but this part of my day was a blast, in large part, because of the volunteers making the calls were absolutely hilarious. The potentially monotonous activity was peppered with rarely relevant side comments from the ladies I was working with. They did everything from offering somewhat unwanted advice on the best way to get a boyfriend to asking one of the people they called to bring them perogies (naturally, they had never met this person). They were amusing, to say the least.
