Today was a fun day. I worked with the Cleveland Select kids at the upper school. They all think that I work for a TV company, so you can imagine the questions: "will I be on TV" and "will I be famous?" So after today's session I have a lot of that to cut out! However, the kids' training sessions have been very resourceful. I am getting a lot of varied data. That is, some of the kids sessions are very well organized while others look like mob scenes. Nonetheless, this is exactly what I was looking for and it will allow my project to juxtapose various teaching techniques. In general, the project is running well, I have improved on my camera skills and I have been getting invites to film at other training sessions.
Tomorrow is my off day because I have a Calculus exam on Wednesday. Therefore I will not be taking footage. However, wednesday will be exciting because I will be filming older kids. The filming will be easier because the training session are more organized and the play is advanced. Sometimes I have to hold myself from jumping into the sessions and training with the boys! All in all, I like the concept of filming because I am learning a lot of skills and rationale that I would otherwise not have known; for instance, film editing and coherence.
